UX/UI & Web Development

Project Overview

For this project, we have been informed that JkpgCity is a government-owned organisation with the mission to develop and promote the city's commerce. Unfortunately, the webpage is badly organised, making it hard for its visitors to find out information about the stores.

The task at hand was to create a full-stack web application showcasing stores and businesses in Jönköping city centre. The application features an interactive shopfront directory organised by categories including Clothing & Fashion, Food & Drinks, Health & Beauty, Home & Lifestyle, Services, Speciality & Hobby, and others.

Features

  • Visually engaging landing page with video background

  • Interactive shop carousel with category filtering

  • Admin panel for managing store listings (add, edit, delete)

  • Secure authentication system for admin users

  • Mobile-responsive design with modern UI elements

Tech Stack

The project is built using a Docker-based architecture with:

  • Frontend: HTML, CSS, and vanilla JavaScript

  • Backend: Node.js with Express

  • Database: PostgreSQL

  • Docker containers for easy deployment and scaling

  • The application allows visitors to browse local businesses while providing administrators with tools to maintain an up-to-date directory of stores in Jönköping's city centre.
